Greek ambassador to Cairo, Michael-Christos Diamesis, hosted a farewell reception last night at the Greek ambassador’s residence in Cairo for his three-year diplomatic mission in Egypt.
The outgoing Greek ambassador wholeheartedly thanked all those who contributed to the upgrading of Greek-Egyptian relations. It was excellent cooperation that strengthened strategic cooperation between the two countries.
At the same time, he warmly thanked the Greek community and the President of the Greek Community of Cairo, Christos Kavalis and all the community members who attended the reception, wishing them to remain united and create solidarity to the Greek community and the historical institutions based in Egypt.
The outgoing Greek ambassador also spoke of the decisive role of both the Patriarchate of Alexandria and Saint Katherine’s Monastery in strengthening the relations between Greece and Egypt, and in reviving a long tradition of Greek presence in Egypt.
Finally, the outgoing Greek ambassador to Cairo urged all the attendants to embrace his successor, the new Greek ambassador, Nikos Garilidis, who is born and bred in the Greek community of Egypt.
