On May 24, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Brazzaville and Gabon had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Congo, Clément Mouamba, at the Prime Minister’s Mansion in the capital.
During the meeting, the Metropolitan expressed the local Church’s gratitude to the President of the Government and the President of the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville, Mr. Denis Sassou N’guesso, for the assistance and honor they provided Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, during his recent visit to Congo-Brazzaville, reassuring indeed the excellent relations between the Church and the State.
Metropolitan informed the Prime Minister about the problem that there is no Metropolitan seat and residence in the political capital of the state, and therefore the seat of the Metropolis is situated, temporarily, in the co-capital Pointe-Noire.
From his part, Mr. Mouamba expressed his contemplation for the Patriarch of Alexandria’s visit to Congo, he praised the activity of the Orthodox Church in the country and reassured the Metropolitan that the loyal cooperation shall continue and that his appeal on the Metropolitan seat shall be supported.
The meeting was completed with the offering of the Holy Icon of Saint Dimitrios to the Prime Minister.
